GlossWorks Detailed: Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

This rare and very expensive Ferrari is known as the 599 GTB Fiorano. Sporting a monsterous looking 6.0L V12, this car is rated at 612bhp and 448lb-ft, both highs for a production Ferrari road car. Since the car was being put up for sale, GlossWorks was contacted to give it a full paint correction to get the paintwork in prestine condition for the next owner.

Upon inspection of the car, it was obvious that this car would be in high demand once it was brought back into tip-top shape. With only a handful of these cars rolling around Vancouver, this particular specimen is the most unique of the group. Selected areas of the car had been wrapped in matte black vinyl to accent the lines on the hood and the c-pillars. In addition to that, the current owner had just installed a brand new set of matching matte black Novetec NF-3 wheels (20″ front/21″ rear) wrapped in Pirelli tires, all sitting on upgraded suspension. If anybody is currently in the market for a rare and exotic Italian sports car, feel free to give me a call and I can put you in contact with the current owner.

On to the detail:

The car upon inspection.

Even though the wheels were brand new…

…they are going to be properly cleansed and sealed for maximum protection.

The same goes for the monster-sized calipers.

The car definitely needed a good cleaning around all the jambs.

Pulled indoors into the bright lights and the defects on the hood were noticed right away.

I wonder how these 2 cluster of scratches got here?

The wheels were first given a thorough cleanse.

Then the car was given a foam down and hand wash.

After the car was washed and dried, the vinyled areas were carefully taped off to prevent damage from the polishing.

Close up of the taping.

Brought out the flashlight to inspect the paint once more before polishing and found another cluster of scratches.

Lots of swirls around the vents on the hood.

The paint was then compounded to remove most of the defects before being refined with a less aggressive polish.

Hard at work polishing the hood, where most of the deeper defects were present.

Area around the side vents showing some deep swirling as well.

Same area after the defects were compounded out.

Swirls on rear hatch under the shop lights.

Much deeper reflections after the area was polished.

The deep curvature around the taillights pose the most challenge when polishing due to the tight area being inaccessible for the polisher.

Looking much better after a combination of machine polishing with a smaller pad and refining the paint by hand.

This particular area around the side skirt takes the most amount of beating when exiting the car, so extra attention was given to it.

After all the polishing was done, the vinyl was cleansed with a cleaner and protected with a sealant which dries to a nice even matte finish.

The black plastic of the mirrors had some previous wax buildup and was also starting to fade.

This was cleaned up and reconditioned, leaving this finish.

The paint looks dripping wet after two coats of sealant.

Swirling around the side vents are no longer visible.

Depth of gloss and clarity is improved after countless hours of polishing.

Since it was raining outside when the car was done, the after shots were all taken indoors in the detailing bay.

The heart of this beast, capable of pushing this car to a top speed of 330km/hour!

All finished after 2 days of work and ready for pickup!

  1. Outstanding! I’ve been looking for a detailer that compares to some of the work I’ve seen done in the states and Glossworks certainly fits the bill. FYI, I was directed to this site from a few of your friends on the e46 Fanatics website.
