GlossWorks Detailed: 993 Turbo in Hong Kong

During January 2011, GlossWorks had the priviledge of visiting Asia to detail a couple of Porsches in Hong Kong. This is the second of two Turbo’s that received the GlossWorks’ treatment. This Porsche is a beast with plenty of history behind it. Released in 1995, the 993 Turbo was not only the fastest production car in the world when it was produced, but was also the fastest stopping production car at the time (100 km/h to a complete stop in 2.3 sec). The 3.6 L engine was equipped with twin turbos that produced 408hp and a top speed of 290km/h. Over the years, posters of this car has adorned the walls of many adolescent boys and discerning car fanatics.

This car is painted in a rare factory color called Amaranth Violet, which is a very dark base with lots of brown, blue, and purple flakes mixed into the paint. It looked gorgeous in the sun upon completion!

Due to the lack of time, no before or during shots were taken. These are just shots after the car was fully complete. Enjoy!

Driving around town looking for a location for the photoshoot.

Decided to park it on the least busy street that we found.

Reflection off the hood. The blue and purple flakes are visible in this shot.

The brown flakes are more obvious from some angles, as evident from this shot.

Reflection off the front fender.

The doors had a tremendous amount of hazing prior to polishing, but majority of the defects were removed.

To this day, this is still one of the most recognized rear ends of any production car.

The very famous “whale tail” wing.

Reflection off the roof of the car.

All done and ready to be put away. My job here in Hong Kong is now complete.

Thanks for looking and please leave a comment if you enjoyed this writeup!
